Job 9
/“He is wise and mighty in strength … who does great things beyond searching out” (v4-10). Job, sunk in misery, was confronted with God’s vast, unknowable majesty. Job knew that the Creator was in control of everything, but instead of being comforted, Job felt alone and powerless: “Behold, he passes by me, and I see him not” (v11). God’s greatness was overwhelming because Job felt that he couldn’t “get through” to the Creator. “There is no arbiter between us, who might lay his hand on us both” (v33).
God’s loving concern never left Job, though he couldn’t see it. This love sent the Son in the flesh to suffer for and with us, to “sympathize with our weakness” (Heb 4:15).
