Psalm 147
/“The LORD builds up Jerusalem; he gathers the outcasts of Israel. He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds” (v2-3). The psalmist declared that God was making a people for Himself not by gathering the best and brightest, but by gathering those with wounded hearts and those rejected by society. The God who made the stars and knows them by name doesn’t need anything from us (v4, 11); instead, He treats us with compassion and pours out love and grace.
“The LORD takes pleasure in those who fear him, in those who hope in his steadfast love” (v10-11). We were created to live in joyful dependence on God, our Rock and our Provider.
