Ezekiel 14-15
/"Son of man, these men have taken their idols into their hearts … Should I indeed let myself be consulted by them?” (14:3). The leaders of Judah had embraced idolatry, feeding their immorality, greed, and violence. Yet, as Israelites, they thought it was their right to “consult” with God’s prophet for guidance. These men tried to manipulate the Lord’s power for their own benefit while disobeying His call to faithfulness, justice, and mercy. God said that even Noah, Daniel, and Job couldn’t save a society so corrupted (14:14).
“Repent and turn away from your idols …” (14:6). God’s gifts can’t be separated from the call to obey Him. He calls us to love Him with heart, soul, mind and strength.
