Ezekiel 30-33

“You rely on the sword, you commit abominations, and each of you defiles his neighbor's wife; shall you then possess the land?” (33:26). After prophesying judgment against arrogant Egypt (Ch. 30), the Lord reminded the Israelites that they were no better. They loved violence and broke marriage vows; they behaved like their pagan neighbors. When God sent them preacher-prophets, they refused to change their ways. “They hear what you say but they will not do it” (33:31).

God grieves over our sin. “As I live, declares the Lord GOD, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but that the wicked turn from his way and live” (33:11). He calls us to repentance so that we can truly live.
