Hebrews 11-13

“Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us …” (12:1). Hebrews speaks of our biblical ancestors (Ch. 11) who each ran a unique “race” and in their own way trusted the Lord. Some saw victory; others were “destitute, afflicted, mistreated” but remained faithful (11:37). With their examples in mind and “looking to Jesus” (12:2), we can remain strong instead of growing “weary or fainthearted” (12:3).

Our faith is not in ourselves but in Jesus, who invites us to part of His “kingdom that cannot be shaken” (12:28).
