Psalm 148

“Let them praise the name of the LORD! For he commanded and they were created” (v5). The psalmist celebrated the grand and complex universe created and loved by God. Sky and space, angels and stars, sea creatures, fire and hail, fruit trees and birds were all God’s idea, and they praise Him by their very existence (v7). The earth and all its creatures, including men and women made in His image (v11-12), were made to glorify God and worship Him forever.

Sin broke this fellowship with God, but He made a way for us to be “near to Him” (v14). In Christ, each one of us can fulfill the good purpose for which we were created.
