Psalm 146

“Put not your trust in princes, in a son of man, in whom there is no salvation” (v3). The psalmist warned the Israelites against trusting in mere human leaders who cannot fulfill their promises. Instead, the Creator of the universe is our help and our hope (v5). While human leaders chase power and self-exaltation, God cares for us. “He executes justice for the oppressed … gives food to the hungry. The LORD sets the prisoners free; the Lord opens the eyes of the blind” (v7-8).

Out of His infinite power and kindness, God “lifts up those who are bowed down” (v8). Because He is the source of everything, He pours out abundant love.
