II Timothy 1-4
/“Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from what is dishonorable, he will be a vessel for honorable use, set apart as holy … ready for every good work” (2:21). Paul instructed Timothy, as a young leader, to prepare for good work by avoiding both “youthful passions” and “foolish controversies.” Timothy job was to model a holy life while teaching sound doctrine and correcting others “with gentleness” (2:25). Timothy was gifted and empowered but also needed to recognize the dangers of immorality and arrogant, harsh arguments.
Thankfully, we have been saved “not because of our works but because of His own purpose and grace” (1:9). God Himself will help us pursue holiness and invest our lives in “every good work.”
