Ezekiel 1-4

“Now as I looked at the living creatures, I saw a wheel on the earth beside the living creatures, one for each of the four of them” (1:15). Ezekiel was with the Jewish exiles near Babylon when he had a vision of awesome angelic beings surrounded by God’s glory. In the chaos of exile, knowing that Babylon was invading Jerusalem, his vision included “wheels” and living creatures who moved around. Ezekiel, called to proclaim judgment on God’s people, needed to know that God was with him everywhere.

“Such was the appearance of the likeness of the glory of the Lord” (1:27). God’s glory doesn’t leave when we are in trouble or transition; His presence moves with us wherever we go.
