Proverbs 30
/“Who has gathered the wind in his fists? … Who has established all the ends of the earth? What is his name, and what is his son's name? Surely you know!” (v4). Like Job, the proverbs teach us the limits of human wisdom. Relying on our own understanding makes us “weary” (v1), but we have access to the Creator, whose knowledge never runs out. The author asks the Lord to keep him humble, neither rich nor poor (v8-9), so that he would always be conscious of his dependence on God.
“Every word of God proves true; he is a shield to those who take refuge in him” (v5). Our world may be unstable, but God’s love and truth are unshakeable.
