Zephaniah 1-3
/“Seek the Lord, all you humble of the land … seek righteousness; seek humility; perhaps you may be hidden on the day of the anger of the Lord” (2:3). Through Zephaniah, the nations were warned of God’s judgment, a day of “distress and anguish … ruin and devastation” (1:15). God also promised to rescue everyone who turned away from idolatry, pride, and greed (2:3), so that His original good purposes for the world would be fulfilled. “For at that time I will change the speech of the peoples to a pure speech, that all of them may call upon the name of the Lord and serve him with one accord” (3:9).
“I will save the lame and gather the outcast, and I will change their shame into praise” (3:19). The world reward “winners”, but God accepts us when we bow in humility.
