Habakkuk 1-3
/“O Lord, how long shall I cry for help, and you will not hear?” (1:2). The prophet Habakkuk cried out in frustration at the violence, suffering, and wickedness he saw in Judah and other nations. He waited for the Lord’s reply (ch 2), knowing that sin and its destructiveness are never God’s will. The Lord urged Habakkuk to trust beyond what he could see; God was using even the Chaldeans (Babylonians) for His purposes, so that ultimately “the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the Lord” (2:14).
“Though the fig tree should not blossom nor fruit be on the vines …yet I will rejoice in the Lord” (3:17-18). Even if we are still waiting for healing and fruitfulness, we know that Jesus has already defeated the darkness. One day we will experience His complete victory.
