Isaiah 30

“Egypt’s help is worthless and empty …” (v7). Israel was condemned for running to pagan Egypt for protection, when God Himself promised them safety if they would rest in His care and trust Him (v15). They failed miserably to be faithful to the God of Abraham, yet He did not give up on them. “He exalts Himself to show mercy to you” (v18). Despite adversity and affliction, Isaiah said, God would send them a Teacher who would show them the way (v20-21).

“When the Lord binds up the brokenness of His people …” (v26). Like Israel, we can’t rescue ourselves, comfort ourselves, or teach ourselves. In His mercy, God sent Jesus to save us from self-destruction.
