Isaiah 29

“The meek shall obtain fresh joy in the LORD, and the poor among mankind shall exult in the Holy One of Israel” (v19). Isaiah proclaimed judgment on Jerusalem (Ariel, v1), because the people honored God with words but their hearts were distant (v13). More than just temporary judgment, Isaiah prophesied that one day God would visit the earth “suddenly,” dramatically, bringing salvation to His people and judgment on their enemies. God’s presence would change everything, bringing sight to the blind (v18) and justice to the oppressed.

“And those who go astray in spirit will come to understanding” (v24). God’s presence brings both conviction and the opportunity for redemption, if we choose to welcome Him.
