Psalm 134
/“Come, bless the LORD, all you servants of the LORD, who stand by night in the house of the LORD!” (v1). The “servants of the Lord” in this psalm were the priests and Levites taking their turn at guard duty, at night in the Temple. Whether just watching for intruders or performing religious rituals, the psalmist urged them to lift their hands in praise to the One who made heaven and earth (v2-3). Their work, in this way, would become worship.
“May the Lord bless you from Zion, He who made heaven and earth” (v3). When we stop in our daily (or nightly) tasks to praise God, He blesses us with His presence, and the ordinary becomes holy.
