Ephesians 2:1-10

“For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them” (v10). Paul reminded the Ephesian believers that humans were originally created by God – His masterpieces – for great things. Instead, we followed “the passions of our flesh, carrying out the desires of the body and the mind, and were by nature children of wrath.” But “by grace ... through faith” (v8) in Jesus, we can be restored to God’s good purposes.

“It is the gift of God” (v8). God’s gift means that a new beginning is always possible. Through Christ, what is dead and broken can be redeemed and given new life.
