Isaiah 55

"Seek the LORD while He may be found; call upon Him while He is near; let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts; let him return to the LORD, that He may have compassion on him …” (v6-7). Isaiah’s prophesies about the coming Servant demonstrated God’s compassion and willingness to save. Isaiah urged his hearers to renounce all their sinful desires that could never satisfy (v2), and to instead take receive God’s salvation while it was offered. “Come, everyone who thirsts, come to the waters …” (v1).

“For He will abundantly pardon” (v7). The things that tempt us can never satisfy our deepest desires. In place of emptiness and self-destruction, Jesus offers forgiveness and life-giving water.
