Colossians 1:1-20

“For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves” (v13-14). Paul rejoiced that the Colossians had “truly understood the grace of God” (v6). He reminded them that their new home, the “kingdom of light” (v12), was Jesus’ kingdom – not just a good moral kingdom, but a kingdom ruled by the Son, the “image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation” (v15). Their loyalty wasn’t to an idea, but to a Person.

“He is the head of the body, the church …” (v18). Set free from the kingdom of darkness, we love and obey Jesus, our King, Savior, and Reconciler (v20).
