Genesis 20-22
/“God will provide for himself the lamb for a burnt offering” (22:8). God had given Abraham and Sarah a miracle baby, the child of the promise, born when both were very old. That son represented God’s plan to bless and redeem the nations through Abraham and the covenant of faith. Then God asked Abraham to give up Isaac, testing whether this beloved son had become the real focus of Abraham’s hope, rather than God himself. Abraham willingly obeyed, believing that God would be faithful, one way or another, to keep all His promises.
“The Lord will provide” (22:14). Just as God provided Jesus for our redemption, He will be faithful to rescue, restore, and provide what we need every day.
