Psalm 1

“But his delight is in the law of the Lord … He is like a tree planted by steams of water …” (v2-3).  In the psalms, the law isn’t just the Ten Commandments; it is God’s entire revelation of Himself.  The person who discovers the “delights” of God’s ways fills their mind and heart with the stories of God’s goodness, His love of justice, His kindness toward the weak, His mercy and His joy over creation.

Christ has planted us in God’s kingdom, but too much absorption of the world’s ways can make us dry and brittle (v4).  To thrive, we must nurture our roots in Him.
