Acts 14
/“So they remained for a long time, speaking boldly for the Lord, who bore witness to the word of his grace, granting signs and wonders …” (v3). Paul and Barnabas preached the gospel and expected “signs and wonders” to confirm its truth. At Lystra, a lame man was healed, and this demonstration of spiritual power caused an uproar. Paul responded by explaining the “good news” (v15), giving people an opportunity to understand and believe, and a new church was born (v21-23).
“He had opened a door of faith to the Gentiles” (v27). Paul’s gospel witness included both words and deeds, making it effective. When God is at work in us and through us, our words of truth have power.
