Acts 17

“What therefore you worship as unknown, this I proclaim to you” (v23). Paul declared to the Athenians, who loved to hear new ideas, that their searching was over.  Whatever they had previously believed or worshipped was just a shadow compared to the reality of God’s Son. “The times of ignorance God overlooked, but now he commands all people everywhere to repent” (v30). Similarly, Peter had preached to his Jewish listeners that the Old Testament pointed to “this Jesus” (Acts 2:23).

“That they should seek God” (v27).  All our ideas about truth and goodness, everything we seek, is fulfilled in Jesus.  He is the One we have hoped for, the answer to our heart’s deepest longings.
