Acts 8

'“May your silver perish with you, because you thought you could obtain the gift of God with money! … your heart is not right before God” (v20-21).  The Samaritans were amazed by the miracles Philip performed, and “there was much joy in that city” (v8). However, Simon the magician sought to separate God’s power from the testimony about Jesus; he only desired the Spirit’s power, which he thought he could buy. In contrast, the Ethiopian eunuch needed no miracle at all – he simply believed in Jesus (v26-36).

“Like a sheep he was led to the slaughter …” (v32). God’s miraculous victory shone most brightly through Jesus, who died for us.  Sharing His resurrection power means sharing His humility and sacrifice.
