Acts 24-25

“But this I confess to you, that according to the Way, which they call a sect, I worship the God of our fathers …” (24:14).  Paul defended himself with the truth: though he followed the Way of Jesus, he hadn’t broken any Jewish laws, and he hadn’t disturbed the peace (24:18; 25:8).  However, Paul’s efforts to be released from prison didn’t stop him from witnessing to Felix and challenging him on a moral/spiritual level. “And as he reasoned about righteousness and self-control and the coming judgment, Felix was alarmed …” (v24:25).

“Having a hope in God …” (24:15).  Paul’s hope was in Jesus, not in government or religious leaders, so he was free to act righteously and speak truth.
