II Kings 6-8

“Do not be afraid, for those who are with us are more than those who are with them” (6:16).  One of the roles of the prophet was to help people “see” the power and presence of the Lord.  When Elisha and others were surrounded by the Syrian army, Elisha prayed that his servant would be able to see God’s help: horses and chariots of fire, protecting them (v17).  The tragedy was that some, like the official of Samaria, remained blind to God’s miraculous answer (ch 7).

“Oh Lord, please open his eyes …” (6:17). God is always at work. In times of discouragement, we can ask Him to open our eyes to see His loving and powerful presence.
