II Kings 4-5

“What shall I do for you?” (4:2).  Just as Elijah had been used by God to help a distressed widow (I Kings 17), the prophet Elisha did the same. The prophets rebuked kings and declared God’s Word, and they also directly ministered God’s life-giving encouragement and hope to desperate people. A poor widow received resources, a wealthy woman received a child, and a non-Jewish army commander was healed of leprosy (ch 5).  God’s reality was declared in word and deed.

“Behold, I know that there is no God in all the earth but in Israel” (II Kings 5:15).  When we lean on God and find He is trustworthy, we become the ones who declare His praises to the world.
