II Kings 2-3

“Is there no prophet of the LORD here, through whom we may inquire of the LORD?” (3:11).  The coalition of kings (from Israel, Judah, and Edom) marched for 7 days and found no water. Judah’s king, Jehoshaphat, immediately wanted to consult a prophet of God, and so Elisha was found (though he was no friend to Israel’s king).  Jehoshaphat’s faith resulted in God’s response: ‘You shall not see wind or rain, but that stream-bed shall be filled with water, so that you shall drink …” (3:17).

“I will make this dry stream-bed full of pools” (3:16). God wants our first instinct to be to call on Him, trusting that He cares and has power to help us.
