Acts 19:1-10

“There he found some disciples …” (v1). The disciples Paul found seemed to have heard part of John’s early message and had repented of their sins.  However, they were ignorant of the whole truth about Jesus.  Seeing their faith and eagerness for more, Paul baptized them in Jesus’ name and laid hands on them to receive the Spirit (v6). Their decision to turn from sin to righteousness was a good start (v3-4), but only through Jesus and His Spirit could they enter a new kind of life.

“The Holy Spirit came on them” (v4). Many religions give instructions about moral behavior, but only the crucified and resurrected Jesus saves us and gives us power to live a new life.
