Acts 18

“Crispus, the ruler of the synagogue, believed in the Lord, together with his entire household. And many of the Corinthians hearing Paul believed and were baptized” (v8). In Corinth, many Jews and Gentiles believed Paul’s message about Jesus, even though they faced persecution from both religious and secular forces.  Although some Jews believed, others “opposed and reviled” the disciples (v6-7), and trouble reached even the Gentile courts (v12-17).  However, the Lord told Paul not to be frightened and to keep preaching (v10).

“Do not be afraid, but go on speaking … for I am with you” (v10). Rejected by religious and secular authorities, the early Christians trusted in the real King and His message of redemption.
