Psalm 75

“When the earth totters, and all its inhabitants, it is I who keep steady its pillars” (v2-3).  Living through the devastation of conquering empires and the grief of exile, the Israelites learned that God alone was unshakeable. Human leaders boast about their power (v3-5), but they are nothing compared to our holy Creator (v8).   “For not from the east or from the west and not from the wilderness comes lifting up …” (v6).  In God’s presence, no one is worthy to lift their own heads.

“But it is God who executes judgment, putting down one and lifting up another” (v7). God sees the heart, and we can trust His judgment. We are completely secure in His hands.
