I Chronicles 23-24
/“The LORD, the God of Israel, has given rest to His people, and He dwells in Jerusalem forever” (23:25). King David rejoiced that the Israelites no longer worshipped in tents, and the Levites no longer carried the ark of the covenant from place to place. The ark finally had a “home” in Jerusalem, and national life centered around corporate worship. Even though David himself was not allowed to build the Temple, it was his most important legacy. “For by the last words of David” the priests and Levites were assigned their roles in God’s house (23:27).
“For the service of the house of the Lord” (23:32). Our individual and corporate lives flourish when God is our highest priority and greatest treasure.
