Matthew 14

“Take heart; it is I. Do not be afraid” (v27).  Jesus invited his followers to follow Him courageously, standing firm against the evil in the world and trusting Him as Savior and Lord.  He proved to the crowds that He cared for them and could provide for them (v20), and he proved to Peter and the disciples that He was Lord over all creation (v33). John’s trust in Jesus and his kingdom extended all the way to criticizing Herod’s sexual immorality, even at the cost of his own life (v4).

“Truly you are the Son of God” (v33).  When we know Jesus is Lord over all creation and cares for us, we “take heart” and follow Him anywhere.
