Psalm 8-9

“When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars … what is man that you are mindful of him, and the son of man that you care for him?” (8:3-4).  The psalmist was overwhelmed that the Creator of the galaxies, stars, earth, and all creatures would give humans “glory and honor” and authority over the world (8:5). Rather than being arrogant, he recognized that God’s glory was reflected in the praise of babies and infants (v2); human pride, by contrast, makes us God’s enemies (8:2).

“You have given him dominion …” (8:6).  We manage our responsibilities well (families, homes, work, society) when we recognize our own smallness and dependence on the good Creator.
