Genesis 33
/“But Esau ran to meet him and embraced him and fell on his neck and kissed him, and they wept” (v4). Jacob expected to be confronted by a violent and angry Esau, considering that Jacob had cheated him years before out of both birthright and blessing (ch 32). However, Jacob had “wrestled with God” and matured in his faith, and Esau himself had changed. Both brothers recognized that they had “enough” (v9,11) and that what they had was from God’s hand.
“God has dealt graciously with me” (v11). Jacob’s turning point was when he stopped striving and competing and became thankful. When we recognize what we have, healing and reconciliation can begin.
