Psalm 16
/“I say to the LORD, “You are my Lord; I have no good apart from you” (v2). The psalmist discovered that there was no other joy or real peace apart from God. “The sorrows of those who run after another god shall multiply” (v4), because other gods (possessions, wealth, power, self-reliance, sexuality) will always disappoint us and eventually harm us. But when we make the Lord our “chosen portion” (v5), we find that our well-being is safe in His hands.
“You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy” (v11). There is no lasting good outside of fellowship with God through Jesus; He is the path of life.
