Psalm 17
“Keep me as the apple of your eye; hide me in the shadow of your wings, from the wicked who do me violence, my deadly enemies who surround me” (v8-9). The psalmist (David) fled from his enemies, especially Saul. He chose to avoid “the ways of the violent” and trusted God to protect and vindicate him (v2-4). Even more, he believed that as he refused to use the world’s methods and instead made God his refuge, the Lord would “wondrously show His steadfast love” (v7).
We don’t need to fear the chaos, temptations, or powers of the world (Eph 6). When we hide ourselves in God and honor His ways, His steadfast love surrounds us.
