Exodus 10-11
/“Plead with the LORD your God only to remove this death from me” (10:17). Every time Moses asked Pharaoh to let the Israelites go into the desert, he warned that refusal to submit to God’s command would result in great harm to Egypt. Just as Moses said, the plagues were terrible – Pharaoh and his people experienced them as a sign of death, even before the final, most terrible plague. Pharaoh’s councilors urged him to submit, saying that Egypt was “ruined” (10:7). But Pharaoh’s repentance was only temporary.
“How long will you refuse to humble yourself before Me?” (10:3). Spiritual rebellion separates us from fellowship with God. He calls us to humble ourselves so that we will experience life, not death.
