Leviticus 9-10

“And fire came out from before the LORD and consumed the burnt offering and the pieces of fat on the altar, and when all the people saw it, they shouted and fell on their faces” (9:24).  While most other ancient religions required sacrifice to idols, Israel’s sacrifices were offered to the living Creator of the universe. Proving this was more than religious ritual, God sent fire from heaven to consume the sacrifice.  This divine fire was deadly for those who, like Nadab and Abihu, ignored God’s commands (10:1-3).

“The glory of the Lord appeared to all the people” (9:23). Because of Jesus, our sins are forgiven.  United with Him, we experience God’s glory, His presence among us, without fear.
