Mark 11

“By what authority are you doing these things, or who gave you this authority to do them?” (v28).  Jesus’ authority – proven by miracles - was obvious to many people: those who asked Him for healing, those who listened to His teachings, and the disciples who followed Him.  But the religious leaders didn’t see Jesus as someone who could help them or instruct them; they saw him as competition.  Because they resisted His authority, they missed out on the forgiveness and healing He offered.

“Hosanna! Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!” (v9). We can welcome Jesus’ authority without fear, because He is also our healer and redeemer.
