Psalm 24

“The earth is the LORD's and the fullness thereof, the world and those who dwell therein …” (v1).  The psalmist reminds us that since the whole world was founded by God, He is the rightful King of everything – not just Israel. Jerusalem and its Temple functioned as a microcosm of what the entire universe was meant to be: God’s dwelling place.  “Lift up your heads, O gates! And be lifted up, O ancient doors, that the King of glory may come in” (v7).  “The Lord, strong and mighty” (v8), deserves to be welcomed everywhere.

Like the earth, we were made by and for the King of glory, and He is the rightful ruler of our lives.
