Leviticus 20-22
/“I myself will set my face against that man and will cut him off from among his people, because he has given one of his children to Molech …” (20:3). Idolatry was taken very seriously in Israel, because these false gods drew people away from the One God and often required corrupt sexual rituals and violence. The worship of Molech, one of the local idols, included child sacrifice. The God of life absolutely forbade the Israelites to sacrifice their children, and He also condemned those who tolerated the practice (v4).
“Consecrate yourselves …” (20:7). God wants our whole hearts, because anything less leads to sin and pain. Loving and obeying the source of Life leads to life.
