Psalm 25

“O my God, in you I trust; let me not be put to shame” (v2).  The psalmist begs the Lord to teach him the right ways, because he knows that God’s path will satisfy his soul (v4,8,9).  All God’s ways are “steadfast love and faithfulness” (v10), so even during a troubled time when joy and peace seem absent, the psalmist hangs on to his faith, knowing God will fulfill His promises.  God’s willingness to reveal His heart, His ways, and His truth is evidence of His “friendship” with us (v14).

“His soul shall abide in well-being, and his offspring shall inherit the land” (v13).  Following Jesus will lead ultimately – now and beyond death – to the “shalom” our souls desire.
