Mark 13
/“Do you see these great buildings? There will not be left here one stone upon another that will not be thrown down” (v2). The disciple was impressed with the magnificent Temple, but Jesus warned him not to get too caught up in the grandeur of a building. The Temple would be destroyed within the lifetime of many of the disciples (70AD), but even this tragedy should not “lead them astray.” The disciples were told to “stay awake” (v35), to stay dedicated to their task, no matter what “wars and rumors of wars” surrounded them (v7).
“Stay awake” (v37). The tumult of the world doesn’t change our task: to proclaim Jesus’ redeeming love by our words and actions, until He returns.
