Numbers 15-16
/“Hear now, you sons of Levi … would you seek the priesthood also?” (16:9-10). The Levites served at the tabernacle, but only Aaron’s descendants were priests. Korah and others decided this was unfair; the whole congregation were “holy,” so why should Moses and Aaron be “exalted?” They twisted a truth (the holiness of God’s people) to try to grab control. This lust for power was rebellion “against the Lord” and had potential to wreck the fragile nation.
“The glory of the LORD appeared to all the congregation” (16:19). If the King is in our midst, everything is different. Human pursuit of power is a rejection of His authority, and only in submission to His loving will do we find peace.
