Psalm 29

“The voice of the LORD is over the waters; the God of glory thunders” (v3). With images of God’s power revealed in a storm, the psalmist calls us to honor the Lord as the Creator who is beyond our control.  We hear the thunder, see the lightning “flames of fire” (v7), and feel the powerful wind, and we realize our worship often falls short of “the glory due His name” (v1-2).  As the voice of the Lord “shakes the wilderness,” we and all in the “temple” of His creation cry “Glory!” (v9).

“May the Lord give strength to His people!” (v11).  We rejoice God is over all of creation, even the storms, and He offers us His strength.
