Numbers 26-27
/“Go up into this mountain of Abarim and see the land that I have given to the people of Israel …” (27:12). Moses was going to die before the Israelites entered the Promised Land. However, like Abraham, he believed that God would fulfill His promises, and he prayed for coming generations. He asked the Lord to appoint a new leader to guide Israel, so that they would not be “like sheep without a shepherd” (27:17). Moses’ concerns went beyond himself; he wanted to see the people of Israel thriving under God’s rule.
Through Christ we enter a new family, and our capacity to love grows. Like Moses, we pray for God’s kingdom to thrive everywhere, in all generations.
