Luke 14
/“So therefore, any one of you who does not renounce all that he has cannot be my disciple” (v33). Jesus rebuked those who thought God’s kingdom was something that could manipulated for their advantage or confined to religious activities. Instead, Jesus said God’s kingdom demands our whole lives, our whole selves. It’s like “a great banquet” of blessing that many would miss out on because their hearts were invested in other things (v18), or because they decided the cost was too high (v25-33).
“Still there is room” (v22). Jesus said the door to God’s kingdom is wide open for all who put their trust wholly in Him. Nothing on earth even comes to close to this “great banquet.”
