Proverbs 7
/“Keep my commandments and live; keep my teaching as the apple of your eye” (v2). The proverbs encourage us to keep God’s ways fresh in our minds and clear in our hearts (v3), because temptations constantly surround us. While the harm caused by adultery is obvious (v8-23), the same type of “smooth talk” (v21) can make other sins look appealing: greed, rage, gossip, hatred, bitterness, etc. “Let not your heart turn aside” (v25); the author warns us. God calls us to a better path.
“Treasure up my commandments with you” (v1). God’s Word, made flesh in Jesus, is our treasure. He desires to keep us from self-destruction and lead us to abundant life.
