John 15-16

“By this my Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit and so prove to be my disciples” (15:8).  Jesus’ mission was to save us, reconcile us to the Father, and give us back our original purpose: to “bear fruit” for the King of the universe.  We reproduce the peace, joy, beauty, order, and holiness of God’s kingdom by being intimately connected to Jesus. “I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing” (15:5).

“Abide in my love” (v9). As our hearts are changed by Jesus’ love, the fruit we bear begins to reflect His good kingdom.
