Psalm 52

“Why do you boast of evil, O mighty man? The steadfast love of God endures all the day” (v1).  David was hunted, threatened, and betrayed, and he saw the terrible effect of men who “love evil more than good, and lying more than speaking what is right” (v3). Their words “devour” others and stir up trouble.  However, David knew that his life was not in their hands. God was his defender (v5-7) and stability. “I am like a green olive tree in the house of God” (v8).

“I trust in the steadfast love of God forever and ever” (v8). God doesn’t leave us vulnerable in the midst of trouble and uncertainty. He surrounds us with His powerful, unshakeable, life-giving love.
